Richmar Twin Stim Plus 2nd Edition
The Twin Stim Plus 2nd Edition has been a popular option for clinics and home users who need more flexibility than a basic 2-channel stim unit. Its four-channel design allows treatment over larger areas or more than one body region during the same session, while dual independent timers and compliance tracking add useful functionality for regular therapeutic use.
Limited Stock Available
This 2nd Edition model is being discontinued and is now available while supplies last. We currently have limited remaining inventory, making it a good option for customers looking for a sale-priced 4-channel TENS and EMS unit.
Looking for the Newer Version?
A newer Richmar Twin Stim Plus 3rd Edition is also available. The 3rd Edition adds Interferential and Russian stimulation modes for users who want broader treatment options beyond TENS and EMS.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Richmar Twin Stim Plus 2nd Edition, and how does it work?
The Richmar Twin Stim Plus is a clinical-grade TENS and EMS combo unit designed to help reduce pain and activate muscles. TENS uses electrical pulses to interrupt pain signals, while EMS stimulates muscle contraction to support strengthening and recovery. With 4 independent channels, you can treat multiple areas or larger regions at the same time.
What makes the 2nd Edition different from the original Twin Stim Plus?
The 2nd Edition features updated treatment modes, improved output consistency, better ergonomics, and refined programming. It offers smoother stimulation, easier button navigation, and enhanced durability — making it more user-friendly for both clinic and at-home rehabilitation use.
When should I use TENS vs EMS on this device?
Use TENS during flare-ups of pain, nerve-related discomfort, arthritis, post-surgical irritation, or chronic pain conditions. Use EMS when you are trying to activate or strengthen muscles — for example after injury, post-surgery muscle inhibition, weakness, or when retraining muscle firing patterns.
How many body areas can I treat at once with the Richmar Twin Stim Plus?
The unit has 4 channels, meaning you can connect up to eight electrodes at the same time. This allows treatment across multiple regions such as both shoulders, both knees, or a large area like the low back and glutes.
Is the Twin Stim Plus safe for home use or only for clinics?
Although it is widely used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinics, the Richmar Twin Stim Plus 2nd Edition is safe and approved for home treatment when used as directed. Many people use it under the guidance of a physiotherapist or physician.
Can I use this device for chronic back pain, arthritis, or sciatica?
Yes. TENS therapy is often recommended for chronic and acute pain conditions, including back pain, neuropathic pain, osteoarthritis, post-surgical pain, and nerve-related symptoms like sciatica. EMS modes can help when muscle weakness or inhibition contributes to discomfort.
Do I need gel pads or wires, and are they included?
The Twin Stim Plus 2nd Edition uses wire leads and reusable adhesive electrodes. Most retail kits come with lead wires and starter pads, but they will need to be replaced periodically for best performance. You can purchase replacement electrodes easily through our store.
How long should a typical treatment session last?
Most clinical recommendations suggest 20–30 minutes per session, up to a few times per day depending on the pain level and your therapist’s guidance. EMS sessions for strengthening may vary based on intensity and fatigue, usually between 10–20 minutes.
Is stimulation painful or uncomfortable?
It should never feel painful, but you will feel tingling, pulsing, or tapping sensations. If it becomes sharp, burning, or uncomfortable, decrease intensity or reposition the electrodes. Everyone’s sensation tolerance is different — gradual adjustment is key.
Can the Twin Stim Plus help after knee, shoulder, or spine surgery?
Yes. TENS can help manage post-surgical discomfort, while EMS assists with muscle activation and strengthening when certain muscles “shut down” after surgery — for example after ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, lumbar surgery, or knee replacement. Always follow your clinician’s recovery protocol.
Are there people who should avoid TENS or EMS therapy?
Yes. People with pacemakers or implanted stimulators, uncontrolled heart or seizure disorders, or electrodes near the neck artery or head should avoid stimulation without medical clearance. Pregnant users should consult their clinician before using electrical stimulation.
How do I know where to place the electrodes?
Proper pad placement is important. Many users follow diagrams included with the device or ask their physiotherapist for guidance. If positioning feels ineffective or irritating, adjust pad spacing — muscles respond best when electrodes sit over motor points or aligned parallel to muscle fibres.
Can this device help with muscle weakness or atrophy?
Yes. EMS modes can improve muscle activation, endurance, and contraction quality — making it useful for injury recovery, post-surgical rehabilitation, or weak muscles that struggle to fire during exercise. It’s most effective when combined with an active strengthening program.
Is the Richmar Twin Stim Plus portable?
It is compact and lightweight, making it easy to use at home, in a clinic, or while travelling. The four-channel setup allows flexibility without requiring bulky clinical equipment.
Does it require a prescription in Canada?
In most cases, no — the device can be purchased without a prescription in Canada, but some physiotherapists or clinics recommend it as part of a treatment plan. Always follow professional guidance for medical conditions.
