Foot Drop | Peroneal Nerve Injury

Foot drop occurs when weakness or nerve injury prevents proper lifting of the front of the foot. It is commonly associated with peroneal nerve injury, neurological conditions, or post-surgical recovery.

Supportive ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) and foot drop braces are designed to assist dorsiflexion (lifting the foot upward), improving walking safety and reducing risk of tripping.

Common symptoms of foot drop

• Difficulty lifting the front of the foot
• Tripping or dragging toes when walking
• Compensatory high-stepping gait
• Weakness in ankle dorsiflexion
