Description

Hygiene Sock for VACOped XELGO and Compatible Orthoses

The OPED VACOped XELGO Hygiene Sock / Stockinette is a soft, moisture-wicking layer designed to be worn between the skin and an orthosis liner.

It is particularly useful with the VACOped XELGO liner, helping manage perspiration and keeping the liner cleaner during extended daily wear. Each package contains one sock.

Designed for Use Under the XELGO Liner

Put the hygiene sock on before applying the XELGO liner. Smooth the fabric over the foot and lower leg so that it does not bunch or twist beneath the liner.

Why Use a Hygiene Sock?

Medical walking boots and orthoses may be worn for many hours each day. A separate washable layer between the skin and liner can help manage perspiration and reduce direct contact between the skin and the orthosis.

The OPED stockinette uses quick-drying synthetic fibres designed to transport moisture away from the skin. This makes it easier to wash and rotate socks throughout an extended recovery period.

Seamless Construction

The sock has no stitched seams that could create uncomfortable ridges inside the orthosis. Its elastic weave also helps the material remain smooth against the skin and reduces the likelihood of wrinkles or folds.

Non-Compressive Design

This is a hygiene sock rather than a medical compression garment. It provides a soft fabric layer without intentionally applying therapeutic compression to the foot or lower leg.

Not a Compression Sock

The OPED stockinette does not replace a prescribed compression sock or compression garment. Follow the treating healthcare professional’s instructions when compression therapy is required.

One Size Fits All

The highly elastic weave allows one sock size to accommodate a broad range of foot, ankle and lower-leg sizes. It can be worn on either the left or right side.

Apply the sock slowly and evenly. Ensure the heel is positioned properly and smooth out any folds before applying the XELGO liner or orthosis.

How to Apply the OPED Hygiene Sock

  1. Open the upper portion of the sock widely.
  2. Slide the sock gently over the foot.
  3. Position the heel area correctly.
  4. Pull the sock upward over the ankle and lower leg.
  5. Smooth the fabric to remove wrinkles, folds or twisted areas.
  6. Apply the XELGO liner or compatible orthosis over the sock.

Check the Skin Regularly

Remove the orthosis and sock according to the prescribed treatment plan and inspect the skin for redness, pressure marks, irritation or breakdown. Contact the treating healthcare professional when skin concerns persist.

Why Keep Additional Socks?

The VACOped XELGO boot includes two hygiene socks, while each standalone XELGO replacement liner includes one sock. Additional socks make it easier to maintain a clean rotation when the orthosis is worn daily.

A spare sock can be used while another is being washed and air dried. Additional socks may be especially helpful during warm weather, extended wearing periods or when perspiration is significant.

Sold Individually

Each package contains one OPED hygiene sock. The VACOped boot, XELGO liner and other orthosis components are not included.

Cleaning and Care

The OPED hygiene sock may be machine washed at up to 60°C. Wash it regularly according to the care label and treatment environment.

Air Dry Only

Allow the sock to air dry fully before reuse. Do not place it in a tumble dryer or directly against a radiator, heater or other high-temperature surface.

Do not use the sock if the fabric becomes damaged, excessively stretched or unable to remain smooth beneath the orthosis.
