Osgood-Schlatter Disease (OSD)

Osgood–Schlatter disease (OSD) is inflammation of the patellar ligament at the tibial tuberosity (apophysitis). It is characterized by a painful bump just below the knee that is worse with activity and better with rest. Episodes of pain typically last a few weeks to months.

Osgood-Schlatter disease is a condition primarily seen in adolescents, characterized by inflammation of the growth plate at the tibial tuberosity, where the patellar tendon attaches. It often develops during periods of rapid growth and physical activity, leading to localized pain and swelling just below the kneecap.

In managing Osgood-Schlatter disease, individuals may utilize knee straps or patellar tendon straps to alleviate pressure on the affected area and provide additional support during physical activities. These products are designed to reduce tension on the patellar tendon and may help alleviate discomfort associated with the condition.
