Description

CalorDerm IceFlow Edge Knee Cold Therapy Pad

Designed specifically for the CalorDerm IceFlow Edge, this knee pad circulates chilled water around the treatment area for targeted cold therapy. Choose between the Regular open-kneecap design and the newer Large solid wraparound design.

Two Knee Pad Designs for Different Recovery Needs

The Regular and Large options differ in size, coverage and fastening style. They are not simply two sizes of the same pad.

The Regular pad has an opening over the kneecap and stretchable straps attached directly to the pad. The newer Large design has a solid front and extended upper and lower wings that reach farther around the thigh and calf. Separate wide straps hold the Large pad in position.

Key benefits

  • Designed specifically for knee cold therapy
  • Circulating water helps provide consistent cooling across the treatment area
  • Available in two distinctly different pad designs
  • Regular pad has a kneecap opening and attached stretchable straps
  • Large pad provides solid coverage across the front of the knee
  • Extended Large-pad wings wrap farther around the thigh and calf
  • Separate wide straps provide adaptable positioning for the Large pad
  • May be positioned on either the left or right knee
  • Suitable as an additional or replacement IceFlow Edge knee pad

Made for the CalorDerm IceFlow Edge

This knee pad connects to the insulated hose supplied with the CalorDerm IceFlow Edge Cold Therapy Unit.

The IceFlow Edge circulates chilled water through the pad and back to the reservoir. This helps maintain cold therapy across the treatment area without repeatedly replacing a melting ice pack.

Important Compatibility Information

This pad is designed exclusively for the CalorDerm IceFlow Edge Cold Therapy Unit. It is not compatible with the CalorDerm IceFlow Pro cold-and-compression system.

The IceFlow Edge pad provides circulating cold therapy. It does not inflate or provide adjustable pneumatic compression.

Correct Pad Orientation

The pad must be positioned with the tubing directed downward, toward the feet.

Position the Tube Toward the Feet

Before securing either knee pad, make sure the connection tube is positioned at the lower end of the pad and directed toward the feet. Correct orientation helps the pad sit properly around the knee and keeps the tubing away from the upper thigh.

Common Knee Cold Therapy Uses

The knee pad may be used as part of a healthcare-guided recovery plan for:

  • Recovery following total knee replacement
  • Recovery following ACL, PCL, MCL or meniscus procedures
  • Swelling and discomfort following a knee injury
  • Soft-tissue irritation around the knee
  • Activity-related knee soreness
  • Cold therapy during physiotherapy and rehabilitation

Treatment time, frequency and pad placement should follow the instructions provided by your surgeon, physiotherapist or other healthcare professional.

What Is Included?

The included components depend on the selected option:

  • Regular: One blue knee pad with kneecap opening and attached stretchable straps
  • Large: One blue solid-front knee pad with extended thigh and calf wings plus separate wide securing straps

The IceFlow Edge unit, insulated hose, power supply, carrying bag, Y-connector, longer straps and other accessories are sold separately unless specifically included in a bundle.

How to Apply the Regular Knee Pad

  1. Place a cloth, sleeve, dressing or suitable barrier between the pad and the skin.
  2. Position the connection tube at the lower end of the pad, pointing toward the feet.
  3. Centre the opening over the kneecap.
  4. Wrap the attached straps comfortably around the leg.
  5. Make sure the pad is secure without restricting circulation.
  6. Connect the pad to the insulated IceFlow Edge hose.

How to Apply the Large Knee Pad

  1. Place a cloth, sleeve, dressing or suitable barrier between the pad and the skin.
  2. Position the connection tube at the lower end of the pad, pointing toward the feet.
  3. Centre the solid front over the knee treatment area.
  4. Wrap the wider 48 cm upper portion around the thigh.
  5. Wrap the 42 cm lower portion around the calf.
  6. Secure the upper and lower portions using the separate wide straps.
  7. Make sure the pad is secure without restricting circulation.
  8. Connect the pad to the insulated IceFlow Edge hose.

Do not overtighten either pad. Check strap tension, skin condition, circulation and pad position regularly throughout treatment.

Cleaning and Storage

After treatment, turn off the IceFlow Edge and disconnect the knee pad carefully. Allow remaining water to drain from the pad.

Wipe the exterior using a soft, damp cloth. Mild soap may be used when necessary. Allow the pad, tubing and connectors to dry completely before storage.

Do not puncture the pad, pull it by the tubing, sharply bend the connections or use harsh cleaning products. Store the pad away from sharp objects and excessive heat.

Cold Therapy Safety

Never place the cold therapy pad directly against bare skin. Always use a suitable barrier and check the skin regularly.

Stop treatment if you experience excessive discomfort, numbness, burning, blistering, unusual redness, discolouration or skin irritation.

Speak with a healthcare professional before using cold therapy if you have reduced sensation, neuropathy, diabetes, poor circulation, Raynaud’s syndrome, cold hypersensitivity or another condition that may affect your response to cold.
