Description

Baseline Plastic Goniometer – 8 Inch Arms

The Baseline Plastic Goniometer with 8 inch arms is a mid-size range of motion measurement tool used by clinicians, students and rehabilitation professionals. It is designed to measure joint movement during physiotherapy, occupational therapy, post-injury assessment, post-surgical recovery and general musculoskeletal evaluation.

The transparent plastic design allows the clinician to see the joint axis and limb position during measurement. In addition, the 360 degree head reads in 1 degree increments and includes three scales calibrated for use with the ISOM system.

Mid-size goniometer for everyday clinical use

  • 8 inch arms for general range of motion measurement
  • Useful for many upper and lower extremity joints
  • 360 degree head with 1 degree increments
  • Transparent plastic body helps with visual alignment
  • Linear scale in both inches and centimetres
  • Available in standard and HiRes styles

Which size is best in practice?

The 8 inch goniometer is a practical middle-ground size. It is easier to handle than a 12 inch goniometer, but it still provides more arm length than the compact 6 inch version. In practice, many clinicians use the 8 inch size for joints such as the elbow, wrist, ankle and some smaller knee or shoulder measurements where a full 12 inch goniometer feels too large.

For larger adult joints or when longer landmarks are helpful, choose the 12 inch goniometer. For smaller joints, hand measurements, pediatric use or compact student kits, choose the 6 inch goniometer.

Standard vs HiRes

The standard model is a clear plastic goniometer for routine ROM measurement. The HiRes model adds a white line behind the measurement gradations, which can make the readings easier to see during frequent clinic or classroom use.

Who Should Use This 8 Inch Goniometer?

This Baseline 8 inch goniometer is suitable for physiotherapists, occupational therapists, chiropractors, athletic therapists, rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, schools and students who need a versatile mid-size ROM measurement tool.

It is a good choice when the 12 inch goniometer feels too large for the joint being measured, but the 6 inch version feels too short for reliable landmark alignment.
