Aspen OA Knee+ Sizing & Selection Guide

Universal size: The Aspen OA Knee+ is a universal-size osteoarthritis knee brace designed to fit up to a 30" thigh circumference. The main selection is not small, medium or large — it is choosing the correct OA unloading direction.

Step 1: Measure Your Thigh

Use a soft measuring tape to measure the circumference of your thigh above the knee where the upper portion of the brace will sit. Measure directly around the leg without pulling the tape too tight.

Description

Aspen OA Knee+ Osteoarthritis Unloader Knee Brace

The Aspen OA Knee+ is a premium osteoarthritis unloader knee brace designed for patients with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis. It is built to help reduce load through the affected knee compartment while providing a low-profile, comfortable and adjustable fit for daily use.

Unlike a basic knee sleeve or standard hinged knee brace, the Aspen OA Knee+ is selected based on both the side of the knee and the arthritic compartment that needs unloading. This is important because medial and lateral knee osteoarthritis require opposite unloading directions.

Premium OA unloading support. The Aspen OA Knee+ is designed for mild to moderate osteoarthritis and features a low-profile universal design, two-point hinge adjustment, range-of-motion stops, one-step closure and comfortable non-slip pads.
Important: choose by knee side and OA compartment. This brace is not selected by left or right knee only. Choose Left Medial / Right Lateral or Right Medial / Left Lateral depending on whether your arthritis is on the inside or outside compartment of the knee.
Need help choosing? If you are unsure whether you need medial or lateral unloading, contact The Physio Store bracing expert team before ordering. A prescription, imaging report, clinic note or recommendation from your healthcare provider can help confirm the correct option.
Tax-free with prescription. Orthopaedic braces may be GST/HST zero-rated in Canada when supplied with a valid written order or prescription for the named customer. If you have a prescription for an osteoarthritis knee brace, provide it before purchase so we can process the brace tax-free when eligible.

How to Choose the Correct Aspen OA Knee+ Option

The Aspen OA Knee+ comes in two model options. Each model can be used for either medial compartment osteoarthritis on one knee or lateral compartment osteoarthritis on the opposite knee.

If you are unsure, confirm with your physician, physiotherapist, bracing specialist or imaging report before ordering.

Understanding OA Knee Brace Unloading

An OA unloader knee brace is designed to help shift pressure away from the painful or arthritic compartment of the knee. For many patients, osteoarthritis affects the medial compartment, which is the inside of the knee. Some patients have lateral compartment arthritis, which affects the outside of the knee.

Because medial and lateral compartment osteoarthritis require opposite unloading directions, choosing the correct Aspen OA Knee+ option is important. If you are not sure which compartment is involved, our bracing expert team can help review the information you have and guide you before purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Click on the question to reveal the answer!
What is the Aspen OA Knee+ used for?

The Aspen OA Knee+ is an osteoarthritis unloader knee brace designed for people with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis. It helps unload the affected knee compartment while providing support for walking, activity and daily use.

Is the Aspen OA Knee+ for medial or lateral knee osteoarthritis?

The Aspen OA Knee+ can be used for either medial or lateral compartment osteoarthritis, but the correct model must be selected. The Left Medial / Right Lateral model is used for left medial OA or right lateral OA. The Right Medial / Left Lateral model is used for right medial OA or left lateral OA.

Why are the Aspen OA Knee+ options not just left and right?

OA unloader braces are selected based on both the knee being treated and the compartment being unloaded. Medial compartment arthritis and lateral compartment arthritis require opposite unloading directions, so a simple left/right selection can be confusing.

What does medial compartment knee osteoarthritis mean?

Medial compartment knee osteoarthritis means the arthritis is mainly on the inside part of the knee. If your pain is mostly on the inside of the knee or your imaging report says medial compartment OA, you likely need a medial unloading brace option.

What does lateral compartment knee osteoarthritis mean?

Lateral compartment knee osteoarthritis means the arthritis is mainly on the outside part of the knee. Lateral OA is less common than medial OA, but it requires the opposite unloading direction when choosing an OA knee brace.
