Description

McKenzie C-Spine Retractor

The McKenzie C-Spine Retractor provides targeted cervical traction and controlled support to help ease neck pain, reduce nerve irritation, and improve movement. It is designed for both McKenzie-trained clinicians and patients who want a simple and effective way to perform cervical exercises.

The C-Spine Retractor stabilizes the trunk during McKenzie cervical retraction and extension exercises. Because it provides steady counter pressure, you can reach end-range movement more easily and with better control. As a result, it becomes simpler to target the correct levels of the cervical spine.

This improved control is especially helpful for people with spinal stenosis or cervical radiculopathy, where pain travels into the shoulder or arm. With proper use, the device can help calm irritated nerves and reduce symptoms linked to poor posture or long periods of sitting. It also offers an easy way to perform gentle self-mobilization at home.

For guidance on cervical exercises, you can follow the techniques outlined in Robin McKenzie’s well-known book Treat Your Own Neck. Many clinicians also recommend combining the Retractor with repeated retraction routines for better long-term results.

When to Use

  • During McKenzie Method® cervical exercises.
  • When you want help reaching end-range retraction.
  • To isolate specific cervical levels for self-mobilization.
  • As part of a physiotherapist-guided treatment plan.

  1. Bought this to assist with McKenzie exercises for upper cervical misalignment causing fullness, ear pain, tinnitus and hyperacusis in my left ear. So far treatment with the C-Spine Retractor has helped considerably. The ear pain is gone, the fullness and hyperacusis have been greatly reduced. It also has some effect on the tinnitus but I believe it will take continuous exercising over a long period of time to further reduce this symptom. Use it gently, especially in the beginning. A misalignment that is the result of decades of poor posture can not be corrected in a couple of days. Patience is required.
