Precise cervical support with a more advanced adjustable fit
The Aspen VRTX Cervical Collar is a rigid cervical collar designed to help create a controlled environment for healing during recovery. Aspen positions the VRTX Collar for a wide range of patient anatomies and highlights its ability to improve application time and fitting accuracy in both clinical and home-care settings.
Compared with a basic soft neck brace, the Aspen VRTX Cervical Collar is built for more structured support and more precise fit control. It combines more finite height adjustments, an articulating chin piece, a symmetrical back panel, and a singular pad design to help simplify application while supporting proper alignment and motion restriction.
Important fitting note
Initial fitting and adjustment should follow the direction of a qualified healthcare professional. Aspen’s fitting guidance emphasizes checking that the chin dots are hidden, the collar supports neutral alignment, the straps are snug, and the airway remains clear.
Why choose the Aspen VRTX Cervical Collar
- Designed for a wide range of patient anatomies
- More finite height adjustments for a more precise fit
- Articulating chin piece that helps find neutral head position
- Symmetrical back panel to help minimize fitting error
- Singular pad design for easier pad replacement
- Reusable timestamping window for pad replacement tracking
- Can be advanced to a CTO and CTLSO within the VRTX family
Good fit for
- Acute cervical trauma
- Post-operative cervical support
- Clinician-directed cervical motion restriction
- Patients needing more structured support than a soft collar
Need extra pads?
This page is for the Aspen VRTX Cervical Collar only. If you want the version with replacement pads included, choose the Aspen VRTX Collar Set with Replacement Pads.
Key features
Designed for a wide range of patient anatomies
The VRTX Collar is designed to fit a broad range of patients with a one-size-adjustable system and shorter lateral sides paired with more finite height adjustments. This helps create a more precise fit than a simpler fixed-height collar.
Articulating chin piece for neutral positioning
A standout feature of the Aspen VRTX Cervical Collar is its articulating chin piece. Aspen says this design helps the collar automatically find the patient’s neutral head position, which supports more accurate application and consistent positioning.
Chin-dot fit indicators and symmetrical back panel
The collar includes chin-dot indicators to help confirm fit. Aspen’s instructions say the chin piece plastic should be flush with the end of the chin so the chin dots are hidden. The symmetrical back panel is also designed to help minimize fitting error during application.
Part of the modular VRTX system
The Aspen VRTX Cervical Collar is part of Aspen’s modular VRTX family. One of its practical advantages is that it can be advanced to a CTO or CTLSO if greater support is needed, helping clinics and providers reduce storage complexity while still stepping up care when appropriate.
VRTX vs Vista: what is the difference?
The Aspen VRTX Cervical Collar and Aspen Vista Cervical Collar are both premium rigid neck braces designed to support cervical motion restriction during recovery, but they are not the same product. The Vista is Aspen’s classic adjustable cervical collar, while the VRTX is a newer modular design focused on more precise fitting and progression within the VRTX system.
| Feature | Aspen Vista Cervical Collar | Aspen VRTX Cervical Collar |
|---|---|---|
| Overall positioning | Aspen’s classic flagship adjustable cervical collar | Newer modular cervical collar system |
| Fit approach | Six height settings in one collar | More finite height adjustments for a more precise fit |
| Anatomy range | Broad one-size-adjustable design | Designed for a wide range of patient anatomies |
| Chin support design | Traditional rigid collar design | Articulating chin piece to help find neutral head position |
| Back panel | Traditional rear panel design | Symmetrical back panel to help reduce fitting error |
| System expansion | Standalone collar family | Can advance within the VRTX family to a CTO or CTLSO |
| Best suited for | Shoppers wanting Aspen’s established adjustable collar design | Shoppers wanting a newer system-based collar with more precise fitting features |
Simple summary
If you want Aspen’s long-established adjustable collar design, the Vista is the more traditional choice. If you want Aspen’s newer modular collar with more precise fit features and the option to progress within the VRTX system, the VRTX is the stronger fit.

Application and fit guidance
Aspen’s application sheet shows the back panel centered on the head between the ear and upper back, the front panel positioned under the chin and over the collar bones, and the loop straps tightened evenly on each side. Once the collar is in place, Aspen recommends checking four key fit points: chin dots hidden, height correct, collar snug, and airway clear.
Quick fit checks
- Chin dots should be hidden when the chin piece is positioned correctly
- Collar height should support the head in neutral alignment
- Straps should be evenly tightened so the collar feels snug
- The back of the chin piece should not contact the throat
