Description

2Toms Skin-on-Skin Hydrogel Blister Pads provide a soft, moist and flexible layer of cushioning for skin affected by rubbing, pressure and friction. The convenient 1-inch squares are well suited to smaller hot spots and blisters on the feet, heels, toes, hands and other friction-prone areas.

Each pad uses a water-based hydrogel supported by a durable micro-mesh. This creates a comfortable protective interface between sensitive skin and footwear, sports equipment, clothing or other sources of repeated rubbing.

Cushioning for Existing Blisters and Friction Irritation

Skin-on-Skin pads are designed to soothe and cushion intact blisters, early hot spots, chafed skin and minor activity-related irritation. They can be especially helpful when pressure or rubbing cannot be avoided completely during work, sport, travel or daily activity.

Where Can Skin-on-Skin Hydrogel Pads Be Used?

The small 1-inch size makes these hydrogel pads useful for targeted protection in areas where a larger dressing may be unnecessary.

  • Heels affected by rubbing from shoes, work boots or hiking boots
  • Toes and forefoot areas irritated by athletic footwear
  • Ankles irritated by skates, braces or footwear edges
  • Hands affected by racquets, tools, gymnastics equipment or weight training
  • Small areas of chafing caused by clothing or sports equipment
  • Early hot spots that may develop into friction blisters
  • Minor superficial skin irritation from activity

Ideal for Sports, Work and Active Lifestyles

Friction blisters can develop whenever repeated rubbing occurs between the skin and another surface. Skin-on-Skin pads can provide targeted cushioning for runners, hikers, dancers, gymnasts, hockey players, construction workers and anyone who spends long periods in athletic shoes, skates or work boots.

They are also useful for sports medicine clinics, physiotherapy clinics, athletic therapy rooms, first aid stations, gyms, dance studios and team equipment kits.

Soft Water-Based Hydrogel with Micro-Mesh Support

The moist hydrogel conforms comfortably against the skin, while the integrated micro-mesh helps the pad remain durable during use. The latex-free design provides an option for people avoiding products made with natural rubber latex.

How to Apply a Skin-on-Skin Pad

  1. Clean and thoroughly dry the skin surrounding the intact blister or irritated area.
  2. Remove one hydrogel square from the jar.
  3. Carefully remove the blue protective film.
  4. Place the hydrogel directly over the intact blister, hot spot or irritated area.
  5. Secure the pad with an adhesive bandage, medical fixation tape or athletic tape.
  6. Replace the pad daily, or sooner if it becomes dirty, loose or damaged.
  7. Close the jar tightly after use to help prevent the remaining pads from drying out.

Medical Tape Is Required

Skin-on-Skin squares do not have their own adhesive layer. They must be held in place with a suitable adhesive bandage, medical tape or athletic tape. A flexible fixation tape such as BSN Medical Hypafix may be used when appropriate for the application.

Existing Blister Care Versus Blister Prevention

Skin-on-Skin is primarily designed to cushion an existing intact blister, hot spot or area of irritation. It does not eliminate the underlying source of pressure or friction. Footwear fit, moisture, sock selection and equipment positioning should also be reviewed.

For activities that regularly cause blisters, a friction-reducing product such as 2Toms BlisterShield or SportShield may be considered before activity. Skin-on-Skin can then be kept available for targeted cushioning when irritation has already developed.

Important Safety Information

Skin-on-Skin Hydrogel Pads are non-sterile and should not be applied to open wounds, deep cuts, infected skin or heavily bleeding areas. Stop use if irritation increases. Seek medical advice for severe injuries, persistent irritation, signs of infection or wounds that are not healing normally.

People with diabetes, reduced sensation, poor circulation or conditions that affect skin healing should consult an appropriate healthcare professional before treating a blister or foot wound.

Can Skin-on-Skin pads be used on an open or popped blister?

No. Medi-Dyne advises that Skin-on-Skin Hydrogel Pads should not be used on open wounds. Seek appropriate wound care advice if a blister has opened, appears infected or is not healing normally.

Are Skin-on-Skin pads sterile?

No. These hydrogel pads are non-sterile and are intended for cushioning intact blisters, hot spots and minor superficial irritation rather than treating open wounds.

Are 2Toms Skin-on-Skin Hydrogel Pads latex-free?

Yes. The pads are made without natural rubber latex.

Can Skin-on-Skin pads be reused?

No. Each hydrogel square is designed for one-time use and should be discarded after removal.

The squares may be carefully trimmed with clean scissors when a smaller shape is needed. Do not return a trimmed or handled pad to the jar.

Are these blister pads suitable for runners and hikers?

Yes. They can cushion intact blisters and hot spots caused by running shoes, hiking boots and repeated activity. The source of the friction should also be corrected whenever possible.

Can Skin-on-Skin pads be used inside hockey skates?

How should the jar be stored?

Keep the lid tightly closed between uses and store the jar in a clean, dry area away from excessive heat. Closing the jar promptly helps prevent the hydrogel pads from drying out.

Should someone with diabetes use these pads on a foot blister?

Anyone with diabetes, reduced sensation, poor circulation or impaired wound healing should consult a healthcare professional before treating a foot blister or skin injury.
